About the department

The department of botany was set up in 2008. This dept. was started with about 20 students in general degree course.

Branches of Botany

Botany is the branch of science that deals with plants. This also includes distribution of plants throughout the world, plants succession, their morphological, anatomical, physiological and genetic behaviour. Paleobotany and palenology deals with fossilized plant parts and pollen grains. Genetics is an important branch of botany.

Objectives:

1. To introduce the students with local flora
2. To examine morphological, anatomical, physiological and genetic behavior
3. To study chromosomal structure, mutation etc.
4. To get introduced with various physiological process of plants.
